Orhan Aksoy directed Alın Yazısı ("Destiny"), a Yeşilçam revenge drama from 1972. A Turkish adaptation of the Iranian film Gheysar, it mixes crime, adventure, melodrama and drama. Made by Erman Film, it is in color and runs about 90 minutes. Hürrem Erman produced, Safa Önal and Orhan Aksoy wrote the script, and Gani Turanlı shot it. It reached cinemas in 1973.

The story turns on honor and vengeance. Zeynep (Hülya Şengül) kills herself after being seduced by Sarı Şehmus (İstemi Betil), the older brother of her friend, leaving a letter that tells her family everything. Her eldest brother Osman (Erol Taş) tries to take revenge on Şehmus but is killed by one of his men. Haydar (Cüneyt Arkın), the youngest brother, learns what happened on returning from his hometown and sets out to take revenge on those responsible for his siblings' deaths. Mümtaz Ener plays the family's uncle.

The cast also includes Fatma Belgen (Fatma), Ülkü Ülker (the singer Aynur), Turgut Savaş (the commissioner) and Kamran Usluer (Beşir). Abdurrahman Palay dubbed Cüneyt Arkın, Sadettin Erbil dubbed Erol Taş and Doğan Bavli dubbed İstemi Betil.

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

A classic revenge setup: a sister's death, the eldest brother killed while trying to settle the score, then Cüneyt Arkın stepping in as Haydar. The motive is clear and the tension is there from the start. Watching Arkın face İstemi Betil's Sarı Şehmus is a treat.
