Dark Roads (Karanlık Yollar) (translated)

Karanlık Yollar is a 1947 Turkish feature film written, directed, and produced by Faruk Kenç. Adapted from a work by Nurullah Tilgen, it tells the tragic story of Yusuf, the son of a wealthy farm owner, who is led astray by the estate steward into a life of vice and indulgence, a downward path that ends in ruin. A co-production of İstanbul Film and Ceylan Film, the picture was shot in black and white on 35 mm and is classified in the drama and family genres. Necati Tözüm served as cinematographer and Sadi Işılay composed the music. The ensemble cast features performers of the era including Haşim Evci, Oya Sensev, Halide Pişkin, Halit Akçatepe, Gülistan Güzey, and Mümtaz Ener.
