Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe

Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe is a 1950 black-and-white Turkish adventure drama adapted from Murat Sertoğlu's novel of the same name. Telling the life of Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe, an efe who made his name in the Aegean in the late nineteenth century, the film carries its hero's name as its title. Faruk Kenç wrote the script and directed it himself, with Nuri Akıncı as assistant director. The producers were Kenç for İstanbul Film and Turgut Demirağ for And Film.

The film covers Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe's life from childhood to death. Bülent Ufuk plays the title role. Sadri Alışık, Gülistan Güzey, Kadir Savun, Salih Tozan, Mehmet Karaca, Zeki Alpan and Vedat Karaokçu are among the other cast members. Enver Burçkin handled the cinematography and Şadi Yaver Ataman the music.

It opened at Taksim Cinema in Istanbul on 6 October 1950. Two years later, in 1952, Faruk Kenç directed a sequel, Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe'nin Definesi (The Treasure of Çakırcalı Mehmet Efe), turning the story into a series.
