Oya Aydoğan — Biography

Born in Erzincan in 1957 as the only daughter in her family (given name Oya Aydoğdu), Oya Aydoğan dreamed of becoming a screen actress from childhood. After finishing among the top six in the 1975 Miss Turkey pageant, she won the Ses magazine acting contest in 1976, which launched her career in Turkish cinema.

Across a career that stretched from the late 1970s into the 2010s, she appeared in films such as Güneş Ne Zaman Doğacak, Yüz Numaralı Adam, Deli Şahin and Beyoğlu'nun Arka Yakası, alongside numerous television roles; she became especially well known to Iranian audiences for playing the character Kulina in the series Bez Bebek.

Aydoğan died in Istanbul in 2016 following an aortic health crisis. Nearly a decade later, in 2025, her son Gurur Aydoğan publicly addressed long-circulating rumors about the circumstances of her death, clarifying that the real story differed from what had widely been assumed.
