Özkan Uğur — Biography
Raif Özkan Uğur (17 October 1953, Istanbul – 8 July 2023, Istanbul) was a Turkish musician, composer and actor, best known as the bass player and a founding member of MFÖ. He turned professional in 1970 with the Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu Orchestra and played with Kaygısızlar, Kurtalan Ekspres, Edip Akbayram-Dostlar and Ersen ve Dadaşlar. The band he started with Mazhar Alanson and Fuat Güner in the mid-1970s had become MFÖ by the early 1980s and one of the best-loved acts in Turkish pop.
He began acting in 1983 in Ferhan Şensoy's stage productions and made his screen debut in the 1988 film Arkadaşım Şeytan. His credits include Eşkıya, G.O.R.A, A.R.O.G, Yahşi Batı, Pek Yakında and Arif V 216, plus the series Cennet Mahallesi and Poyraz Karayel. He died on 8 July 2023, aged 69, of complications from the lymphoma diagnosed in 2013.
