Samy Seghir — Biography

Above all, two films define the career of Samy Seghir, a French actor of Algerian descent: Michou d'Auber, in which he played the lead as a child spotted by Luc Besson's production, and the comedy Neuilly sa mère!, in which he plays Sami Ben Boudaoud. He returned to that role in the 2018 sequel and continues to work in both film and television.

His career began when his mother answered an advertisement in the local paper Aubermensuel and he went to the audition. In the film produced by Besson he starred alongside Gérard Depardieu and Nathalie Baye. The same year he played Kader in the television film Harkis, then appeared in Djamel Bensalah's Big City (2007). That first collaboration with Bensalah led to the lead in Neuilly sa mère! in 2009. After it he made the last fifteen contenders for the César for Most Promising Newcomer, though he did not make the final five nominees.

In later years he broadened his range with Alain Tasma's television film Fracture (2010), Beur sur la ville and the thriller Sleepless Night (both 2011), The Dream Kids (2013) and the series Le Bureau des Légendes. He played Yanis in the Netflix film Earth and Blood (2020).
