Biyuna — Biography

Baya Bouzar, known professionally as Biyouna, was an Algerian actress, singer, dancer and comedian born on 13 September 1952 in Belcourt, Algiers, who died on 25 November 2025 in Béni Messous. She became a widely recognized public figure across Algeria and its diaspora, celebrated for bold comic performances that addressed women's issues and Algerian society with unusual candor. Her screen career spanned decades and included The Harem of Madame Osmane, Viva Algeria, Délice Paloma, Beur Blanc Rouge, Bacon on the Side, Beur sur la ville, The Source, Queens of the Ring, I Still Hide to Smoke and Neuilly sa mère, sa mère!. Alongside acting she recorded pop and pop-rock music and performed as a stage entertainer. In November 2012 she was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in recognition of her public standing.
