A Man Called Magnum (Napoli si ribella)
A Man Called Magnum, originally titled Napoli si ribella ("Naples rises up"), is a 1977 Italian police film directed by Michele Massimo Tarantini and starring Luc Merenda. It comes from the Italian "poliziotteschi" tradition of crime and police pictures of the 1970s, mixing action, thriller and police-film elements. Shot in Italian, it runs about 90 minutes.
In France the film is known as Calibre magnum pour l'inspecteur. Tarantini wrote the screenplay with Dardano Sacchetti, who also came up with the story, and Luciano Martino produced it. Alongside Luc Merenda the cast includes Enzo Cannavale, Claudio Gora, Giancarlo Badessi, Francesca Guadagno, Ennio Antonelli, Sonia Viviani, Adriana Facchetti, Adolfo Lastretti, Nello Pazzafini, Marianne Comtell and Ferdinando Murolo.
In German-speaking countries the film was first released on video, and it found little favour with critics.
