Child of Sorrows (Acıların Çocuğu) (translated)

Acıların Çocuğu is a 1985 Turkish drama and arabesque film. Directed by Ümit Efekan, the film was written by Erdoğan Tünaş and produced by Şahin Dilbaz. Made in Turkey under the Kerem Film banner, it runs 91 minutes.

The story follows Elvan, whose husband loses the family's livelihood to gambling and takes his own life, driving her into prostitution to feed her three children. Her son Emrah, unable to accept her earnings, leaves home; one night a fire destroys the house, and Elvan, believing her children dead, loses her mind. The lead role is played by Emrah, a familiar face of the era's arabesque melodramas, with a cast that includes Özlem Onursal, Tuğrul Meteer, Süleyman Turan, Aliye Uzunatağan and Sümer Tilmaç.
