Commitment Hasan (Bağlılık Hasan)

Commitment Hasan is a 2021 Turkish drama film written and directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu.

The story follows Hasan, a farmer who earns his living from the fruit orchard and tomato field he inherited from his father, and his wife Filiz. For years the couple has lived on their own terms, caring little about anyone else. When the news finally arrives that they can make the pilgrimage to Mecca, they begin their preparations, but on the threshold of this sacred journey Hasan is forced to confront the values on which he built his life and the deeds he committed in the past. Umut Karadağ and Filiz Bozok star in the leading roles.

The film competed in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and was later chosen as Türkiye's entry for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.
