Le gendarme se marie (Cici Damat)

Movie · 1968–1971 · 3 people

Cici Damat (Le Gendarme se marie) is a 1968 French-Italian comedy directed by Jean Girault and the third entry in the popular Gendarme of Saint-Tropez series. Louis de Funès returns as gendarme Ludovic Cruchot, who this time begins a romance with Josépha, the widow of a gendarmerie colonel. Her high ambitions for him soon lead to clashes between Cruchot and his superior, Warrant Officer Gerber, played by Michel Galabru. Geneviève Grad appears for the final time as Cruchot's daughter Nicole, while Claude Gensac joins the series as Josépha, beginning her long run alongside de Funès. Jean Lefebvre and Christian Marin round out the station's brigade. Filming took place in and around Saint-Tropez and was disrupted by a lengthy strike during the events of May 1968. Despite mixed reviews, which criticized the star's dominance over his co-stars, the picture was a major box-office success in France with around 6.8 million admissions. It was followed by three more sequels.
