Bernard Lavalette — Biography

Born Bernard Maurice de Fleury on 20 January 1926 in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, Bernard Lavalette began his career on stage as a chansonnier and humorist before establishing himself as one of French cinema and television's most familiar character actors.

Across a prolific run from the late 1950s to the early 1980s, he appeared in a long string of French comedies, including The Bureaucrats (1959), Un clair de lune à Maubeuge and Assassin in the Phonebook (both 1962), Thomas the Impostor (1964), The Apprentice Heel (1977) and Les Surdoués de la première compagnie (1981). He died on 14 December 2019 in Paris, the city of his birth.
