Assassin in the Phonebook

L'assassin est dans l'annuaire is a French crime comedy directed by Léo Joannon, filmed in 1961 and released in 1962. It was adapted from Cet imbécile de Rimoldi, a 1962 novel by writer Charles Exbrayat. The celebrated comedian Fernandel headlines the picture, joined by Marie Déa and Robert Dalban, with supporting turns from Bernard Lavalette, Dominique Zardi, Henri Attal and Henri Crémieux. Running about 98 minutes, the film blends criminal intrigue with humour and numbers among the final works of Joannon's long directing career. As the title indicates, a telephone directory plays a notable part in the story's mystery.
