The Gendarme and the Extra-Terrestrials (Süper Jandarma)

The Gendarme and the Extra-Terrestrials (Le Gendarme et les Extraterrestres) is a 1979 French science-fiction comedy directed by Jean Girault. The fifth entry in the six-film series about the gendarmes of Saint-Tropez, it marks Louis de Funès' return as Ludovic Cruchot after a nine-year absence from the screen. This time Cruchot and his chaotic brigade face invading aliens who can take on human form while remaining mechanical inside.

The cast includes Michel Galabru, Maurice Risch, Guy Grosso and Michel Modo. Despite scathing reviews, the film was a major commercial triumph, drawing 6.2 million admissions in France and becoming the country's biggest box-office hit of 1979. It was followed by Le Gendarme et les Gendarmettes, the final film in the series.
