Pierre Repp — Biography
Born Pierre Alphonse Léon Frédéric Bouclet in Saint-Pol-sur-Ternoise on 5 November 1909, Pierre Repp became one of France's most distinctive comic performers under his stage name. Trained at the Regional Conservatory of Lille, he built his reputation in music-halls and cabarets, performing in Paris and on tour, and also appeared on television and in stage plays. His signature bit involved tripping over his own sentences, swapping words for the wrong ones as he tried to finish a thought; a well-known sketch about a crêpe recipe, in which he garbles the ingredient names mid-sentence, remains the most cited example. On screen he mostly took minor character parts, appearing in roughly forty films across his career. In Lille, on 14 August 1930, he wed Ferdinande Alice Andrée Bouclet, and he later died in Le Plessis-Trévise on 1 November 1986.
