Karamel Yapım produced the long-running Turkish television series Emanet for Kanal 7, blending drama, romance and family saga. It first aired on 7 September 2020, ran for four seasons and ended with episode 805 on 16 February 2025. Abroad it is known in English as Legacy, in Latin America as Legado de Amor, and in Serbia it aired on Pink as Fatalna ljubav.

The story starts with Yaman, a successful businessman who cannot love because of a traumatic childhood. The only person he truly cares for is his young nephew Yusuf. When Yusuf's mother dies unexpectedly, his young, courageous aunt Seher moves into the family mansion to look after the boy. Clashing at first with Yaman's cold manner, the two gradually develop deep feelings for each other. As Yaman faces his past, he learns that the policeman investigating him and his powerful family is in fact a half-brother he never knew he had.

The cast changed considerably over the seasons. When Sıla Türkoğlu left at the end of season two, Georgian actress Nana Stambolishvili took over the female lead in season three. After Halil İbrahim Ceyhan departed at the close of season three, Albanian actor Nik Xhelilaj became the male lead from season four. Derya Kurtuluş is also in the cast.

Through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Emanet's biggest test was not its length but its cast. The relationship between Yaman and Seher, moving from clashes to love, was the backbone of the first two seasons; then first the female lead and later the male lead changed, and the chemistry at the heart of the story had to be rebuilt from scratch each time. In my view that is where loyal viewers were really tested. Twists like the police officer turning out to be a half-brother keep curiosity alive, but across more than eight hundred episodes slow stretches are unavoidable. A companion for marathon lovers; for choosier viewers, the early seasons are enough.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

At the heart of the story are little Yusuf, who loses his mother, and his aunt Seher, who takes care of him. That makes it a family series you can watch with grandparents. Still, it deals with heavy subjects like a mother's death and childhood trauma, so very young children may need some things explained. And since it aired every day, it asks for a lot of your time.

Cinephile Looks at script, editing and directing choices; keeps a distance from formula films.

You cannot assess Emanet without looking at how it was made: stretching a single premise across more than eight hundred episodes inevitably pushes the drama towards repetition and stalling. A businessman unable to love because of his trauma and a young woman who moves into the mansion for a child's sake is a solid but familiar opening, and developments like a half-brother and family secrets are well-known cards of the genre. What really stands out is that the structure survived two changes of lead; that suggests the show rests on its formula more than on its characters. Its broadcasts abroad under other titles show the formula works, but as filmmaking it is functional storytelling with no real ambition.
