Forbidden to Know

Forbidden to Know (original French title: Défense de savoir) is a 1973 French crime film directed by Nadine Trintignant. The screenplay was co-written by Trintignant and Alain Corneau, and the film runs about 99 minutes, placing it within the French crime-film tradition of the early 1970s. Jean-Louis Trintignant and Bernadette Lafont headline the cast, supported by performers such as Michel Bouquet, Charles Denner, Juliet Berto and Michel Berto. The director's daughter, Marie Trintignant, is also credited with a small appearance. Shot in French in France, the picture was released internationally under titles including Die Angst vor der Wahrheit in Germany and Prohibido saber in Spain. It is one of several collaborations between Nadine Trintignant and her husband Jean-Louis Trintignant during this period of her career.
