Julietta

Julietta is a 1953 French romantic comedy directed by Marc Allégret and adapted from a novel by Louise de Vilmorin published two years earlier. The story follows the title character, a dreamy and headstrong young woman who refuses to marry the older, socially prominent suitor her mother has picked out for her. Determined to shape her own future rather than follow her family's plan, she instead crosses paths by chance with a man who turns out to match the romantic ideal she had been holding out for.

Jean Marais and Jeanne Moreau headline the cast alongside Dany Robin, with Roger Vadim reportedly serving as an assistant director on the production before launching his own directing career. The picture was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris, with sets designed by art director Jean d'Eaubonne. It travelled abroad under a variety of local titles, appearing as Il peccato di Giulietta in Italy, Biljett till Paris in Sweden and Ștrengărița in Romania. Contemporary reviewers described the tone as light and effervescent, comparing the film's frothy charm to a glass of champagne.
