L'eau a la bouche

L'eau à la bouche is a 1960 French comedy directed by Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, featuring Françoise Brion, Bernadette Lafont, Alexandra Stewart and Michel Galabru, with a score by Serge Gainsbourg.

The plot unfolds in a country château where Miléna lives with her grandmother. After the old woman dies, the family lawyer requires the other estranged grandchildren to attend the reading of the will. The arrival of Fifine sets off a round of romantic games: she takes an interest in the lawyer, while her lover Robert poses as her brother and turns his charm on Miléna. Meanwhile, the maid and the butler carry on their own restless flirtation, adding another layer of intrigue to the household.

The film's playful, risqué tone brought it into conflict with Italian censors of the era, who demanded cuts and restricted its release to adult audiences.
