Le Fils de Gascogne

Le Fils de Gascogne is a 1996 French comedy-drama directed by Pascal Aubier, who co-wrote the screenplay with the celebrated writer Patrick Modiano. The 106-minute film opened on 8 May 1996. It follows Harvey, a shy young man guiding a group of Georgian singers through Paris, and Dinara, the group's interpreter.

When a stranger claims to recognize Harvey as the son of Gascogne, a screenwriter who died in a car accident years earlier, a search begins for the dead man's missing final film, and the story becomes a whimsical, nostalgic evocation of 1960s French cinema. Grégoire Colin leads a cast that playfully features renowned film figures of the era — Claude Chabrol, Jean-Claude Brialy, Bernadette Lafont and Alexandra Stewart among them — appearing as themselves.
