Man from Cocody

Movie · 1965 · 2 people

Man from Cocody (original French title: Le Gentleman de Cocody) is a 1965 French-Italian co-production blending adventure and spy-film elements, directed by Christian-Jaque. Shot in French with a running time of around 84 minutes, it is set in Cocody on the Ivory Coast, where part of the location shooting also took place.

The plot follows a diplomat who agrees to accompany a charming woman, who claims to be a butterfly collector, on an excursion into the tropical forest. It soon emerges that she is no entomologist at all: she actually heads a gang searching for the wreck of a downed plane that is believed to still contain a valuable cargo of diamonds. What starts as an innocent jungle trip turns into a dangerous adventure.

Jean Marais stars, with Liselotte Pulver, Philippe Clay, Maria Grazia Buccella, Jacques Morel and Robert Dalban among the ensemble.
