Angels & Demons is a 2009 mystery thriller directed by Ron Howard and written by David Koepp and Akiva Goldsman, adapted from Dan Brown's 2000 novel of the same name. Produced by Columbia Pictures and Imagine Entertainment, it followed The Da Vinci Code (2006) as the second entry in the Robert Langdon film series and opened in cinemas on May 15, 2009.

The story sends symbologist Robert Langdon to Rome after evidence surfaces that the ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati has resurfaced with a deadly plot against the Catholic Church. Joined by CERN scientist Vittoria Vetra, Langdon races along a 400-year-old trail of symbols in a bid to save the Vatican. Shot in Rome and at the Sony Pictures studios in Culver City, the film grossed roughly 486 million dollars worldwide, and the series concluded with Inferno in 2016.
