Miele
Miele is a 2013 Italian-French drama marking actress Valeria Golino's debut as a director. Freely adapted from Mauro Covacich's novel Vi perdono, published in 2009 under the pen name Angela Del Fabbro, the screenplay was co-written by Golino, Francesca Marciano and Valia Santella.
Jasmine Trinca plays Irene, a young woman believed by her father and boyfriend to be a university student, while in reality she operates under the code name Miele, helping terminally ill people die without suffering. When she discovers that her new client, Carlo Grimaldi, is actually a healthy man, she resolves to stop his suicide. Screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, the film received a commendation from the Ecumenical Jury and was nominated for the Lux Prize.
