Pepo
Pepo is a 1935 film directed by Hamo Beknazaryan, remembered as the first Armenian sound film. Adapted from Gabriel Sundukyan's classic play, it tells the story of Pepo, a poor fisherman in Tiflis, and his fight for dignity against the wealthy merchant who has cheated him. The great Armenian stage actor Hıraçya Nersesyan plays the leading role. Pepo is regarded as one of the foremost classics of Armenian cinema.
