Sila (Sıla) (translated)

Sıla is a Turkish television drama produced by Fm Yapım and Most Production that began broadcasting on atv on September 15, 2006, and ran for three seasons before concluding with its 79th episode.

The leads were played by Cansu Dere and Mehmet Akif Alakurt, with Menderes Samancılar, Zeynep Eronat, Devrim Saltoğlu, and Yüksel Arıcı also part of the cast. The story follows a young woman forced by tradition to marry a tribal chief in order to save her brother's life, with events unfolding between Istanbul and Mardin. The show's theme song was performed by Sezen Aksu together with singer Sıla Gençoğlu, who shares her stage name with the series.

Sıla became one of the most-watched Turkish series of its era and was later broadcast across the Middle East, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and several Latin American countries, drawing a large international audience over the following years. In 2013, Turkey's Court of Cassation upheld a ruling that the script had been plagiarized from another writer's work, ordering the production company to pay damages.
