Star Trek Beyond

Star Trek Beyond is a 2016 American science fiction action film directed by Justin Lin. The thirteenth feature film in Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek franchise, it is the third entry in the reboot series, following Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). Written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, the film sees Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto return as Captain Kirk and Commander Spock, joined by new cast members Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella.

In the story, the crew of the USS Enterprise is stranded on an unknown planet and must confront a mysterious new enemy threatening the Federation. Filming began in Vancouver on June 25, 2015, and Paramount Pictures released the film on July 22, 2016. It grossed roughly $343 million worldwide, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and was dedicated to the memory of Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin, both of whom died before its release.
