The Bamboo Stroke

The Bamboo Stroke (original title Le Coup de bambou) is a 1963 French comedy directed by Jean Boyer. The picture stars François Périer, Micheline Presle and Jean Richard, with Jacques Dufilho, Dominique Zardi and Paul Bisciglia also appearing in the ensemble. Running about ninety minutes, it was filmed at the Billancourt Studios in Paris, with sets created by art director Robert Giordani. Its French title comes from a colloquial expression used for something that costs a painfully large amount of money. The production belongs to the tradition of popular French screen comedies of the early 1960s, a genre in which Boyer worked extensively throughout his long directing career.
