The Tiger from Mazandaran
The Tiger from Mazandaran (Persian: Babr-e Mazandaran) is a 1968 Iranian drama film directed by Samuel Khachikian from a screenplay by Manoochehr Keymaram. Produced by Mehdi Misaghieh for the Misaghieh studio, the 122-minute picture is especially notable in Iranian film history as the first screen appearance of Emam-Ali Habibi, a celebrated wrestler from Iran's national team who took on an acting role here for the very first time. Alongside Habibi, the cast features performers of the period including Niloofar, Dariush Talayi and Farrokhlagha Houshmand. The film takes its title from the Mazandaran region in northern Iran and belongs to the dramatic tradition of Iranian popular cinema of its era.
