The Two Orphans

The Two Orphans, originally titled Le due orfanelle, is an Italian historical drama film released in 1942. Directed by Carmine Gallone from a screenplay by Guido Cantini, it runs about 82 minutes. Production took place under the studio-based conditions typical of wartime Italian cinema, with shooting carried out at the Cinecittà studios in Rome and sets designed by art director Guido Fiorini.

The film adapts the stage work of the same name by Adolphe d'Ennery and Eugène Cormon, whose Paris-set story has been brought to the screen many times since the silent era, making this 1942 Italian version one link in a long adaptation tradition. The leading roles are played by Alida Valli, María Denis and Osvaldo Valenti, with Guido Celano also appearing in the cast. The film is in Italian.
