This Man Must Die
This Man Must Die (original title: Que la bête meure), also released in the UK as Killer!, is a 1969 French–Italian psychological thriller directed by Claude Chabrol. It adapts the 1938 crime novel The Beast Must Die, written by Cecil Day-Lewis under his pen name Nicholas Blake. The story follows a widower who, consumed by revenge after his only son is killed in a hit-and-run accident, hunts down the driver with the firm intention of killing him.
Co-written by Chabrol and Paul Gégauff, the 112-minute film stars Michel Duchaussoy, Caroline Cellier, Jean Yanne and Anouk Ferjac. The film has been included in The New York Times list of the 1000 best films of all time.
