Vanina Vanini is a 1961 drama film directed by Roberto Rossellini, produced as a co-production between Italy and France. It adapts Stendhal's 1829 novella of the same name, with Rossellini sharing writing credit with Diego Fabbri and Antonello Trombadori. Sandra Milo stars in the title role, opposite Laurent Terzieff as the fearless young revolutionary whose German-language billing gave the film its alternate title in that market. The supporting cast includes Martine Carol, Paolo Stoppa and Isabelle Corey. Running about 114 minutes, the picture screened in competition at the 1961 Venice Film Festival. In some territories it was also released under the title The Betrayer.
