Zijah Sokolović — Biography
Zijah Sokolović, nicknamed Zike, was born on 22 December 1950 in Sarajevo and has built a multi-decade career in Bosnian and Yugoslav theatre and film as an actor, writer and director. Based in Vienna since 1992, he continues to work between that city, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Belgrade.
He heads the children's theatre Theaterland in Salzburg, teaches at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, and serves as artistic director of the Dežela gledališča festival in Ljubljana. His screen work spans several decades of Yugoslav and Bosnian cinema, with award-winning credits including Silent Gunpowder, Remake and The Abandoned. In animation, he lent his voice to Mr. Ping for the Serbian-language version of the Kung Fu Panda films.
