Emir Hadžihafizbegović — Biography
Emir Hadžihafizbegović (born 1961 in Tuzla) is a Bosnian stage, film, and television actor. He trained at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, graduating in 1986, and is regarded as one of the most respected actors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with credits in more than fifty films, including Fuse, When Father Was Away on Business, Days and Hours, Remake, The Border Post, Grbavica, Armin, and Quo Vadis, Aida?, several of which won major international prizes such as the Palme d'Or at Cannes, the Golden Leopard at Locarno, and the Golden Bear at Berlin. For his role as a struggling father named Ivo in These Are the Rules, he won the Best Actor prize at the 71st Venice Film Festival, and that same performance also brought him a Best Actor nomination for the Silver Bear at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Between 2007 and 2011 he served as culture and sports minister in the government of Sarajevo Canton.
