Halil Babür — Biography

Born in 1987 in Bitlis, Halil Babür began working in theatre while still in high school and went on to study at the Theatre Department of Haliç University, taking his first professional steps within children's, youth and independent theatre companies. He took part in village-themed folk plays staged as part of the Mekan Theatre Festival under the Istanbul City Theatres, and over time expanded into playwriting and directing, becoming a multifaceted figure in Turkish theatre.

His screen career began in 2007 with the series Tek Türkiye, but he first gained wide recognition for the character Trafo Mert in Pis Yedili. He went on to appear in productions such as Tövbeler Tövbesi, Ömre Bedel, Melekler Korusun and Karadayı, before reaching a much larger audience as Veysel in the Show TV series Çukur.

After Çukur, Babür appeared in the series Son Yaz and Kulüp, and in 2024 he took on the role of Kenan Ataman in the ATV series Yaban Çiçekleri. Alongside his television work, he has continued to write for the stage, earning recognition within Turkish theatre circles for his plays.
