Mine Tugay — Biography

Melek Mine Tugay was born on 28 July 1978 in Konya, where her military-officer father was posted, finished high school in Istanbul, and stepped onto the stage in 1997 in the play Büyük Kulaklı Küçük Ayı. Her training at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center ended when she and twelve classmates, including future actresses Özge Özberk and Özgü Namal, were dismissed over discipline, so she moved to Istanbul University State Conservatory; after graduating she performed with the Semaver Kumpanya company and later earned a master's degree in advanced acting at Bahçeşehir University.

She entered television with Gülbeyaz (2003), took leading roles in Gülpare, Benden Baba Olmaz and Aynadaki Düşman, and gained wide recognition as narcotics chief Suna in Behzat Ç. Bir Ankara Polisiyesi. Her performance in the play Karatavuk at Tiyatro Dot won her Best Actress at both the 13th Afife Awards and the LIONS Theatre Awards.

She went on to play Bahar in Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki, Ender in Medcezir, Asuman in Paramparça and Şeniz Karaçay in Zalim İstanbul, and more recently appeared in Gülümse Kaderine, Yalı Çapkını, Merve Kült and Can Borcu.
