Barış Falay — Biography

Barış Falay was born on 9 April 1972 in the Edremit district of Balıkesir; his father's civil-service postings meant his childhood was spent in several provinces, including Ankara and Diyarbakır. After Kocatepe Mimar Kemal High School, he graduated from the Theatre Department of Ankara University's Faculty of Language, History and Geography, working as a barman and waiter to support himself as a student. Following two years at the Ankara State Theatre, he won an entrance exam in 1997 and joined the Kocaeli (İzmit) City Theatre, appearing in plays from Hamlet to Azizname, directing two productions, teaching at the theatre's school, and eventually leaving the company in 2015.

His screen career began with small sitcom roles before he drew notice as Mücahit in Aliye; his performance as Kerpeten Ali in Ezel earned him a Best Actor award from the Association of Showbiz Journalists. He went on to appear in Al Yazmalım, Medcezir and Paramparça, later playing Reşat in Ömer and Macit in İyi Adamın 10 Günü, before joining Kuruluş: Orhan in 2025 as Şahinşah Bey. Falay, who married actress Esra Ronabar in 2006, has a son named Rüzgar Mavi.
