Paul Belmondo — Biography

Paul Alexandre Belmondo was born in Boulogne-Billancourt on 23 April 1963, the son of actor Jean-Paul Belmondo and grandson of sculptor Paul Belmondo. He began racing in 1987 across two categories, Formula 3 and Formula 3000, without a top-ten finish in either. He joined the March team in 1992 and finished ninth at the Hungarian Grand Prix, his best Formula One result; across his career he entered 27 Grands Prix without scoring a championship point. He later moved to the Pacific team, where he managed to start only two races and generally finished behind teammate Bertrand Gachot. He subsequently turned to GT racing, founding his own outfit, Paul Belmondo Racing, which took part in both the FIA GT Championship and the Le Mans Endurance Series before it folded in 2007. Alongside his racing career, he took small acting parts in his father's films, including Itinerary of a Spoiled Child (1988) and Les Misérables (1995), and appeared as himself in the documentary Belmondo par Belmondo (2016).
