Şefika Ümit Tolun was born on May 27, 1961, in İzmir. She trained in the Theatre Acting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylül University and began her artistic life on the stage.
The veteran actress built a long-running screen filmography, starting with Her Çocuk Bir Can in 1992 and continuing through Ferhunde Hanımlar, Ne Seninle Ne Sensiz, Hisar Buselik, Kurtlar Vadisi Terör and Nazlı Yarim.
She remained prolific through the 2010s, appearing in Sırat, Bir Çocuk Sevdim, Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Kurt Seyit ve Şura, Kara Ekmek and Gülperi, in which she played the character Fatma. Standing 1.60 meters tall with green eyes, she was born under the sign of Gemini.
