Sinem Kobal — Biography

Sinem Kobal was born on 14 August 1987 in Istanbul, the first child of a civil-engineer father and a homemaker mother; her family's roots trace to the Hemşin district of Rize. She trained in ballet from age four for eight years, earning a diploma from the Royal Academy, then graduated from İstek Vakfı Özel Acıbadem High School before completing a performing-arts degree at Beykent University, also winning school titles in basketball, volleyball and step aerobics. She began acting at the Dormen Theatre and turned professional at just thirteen when she joined the cast of the series Dadı, later spending a season on stage with the Uygur Theatre.

She played Ayşe in Hürrem Sultan (2003), appeared in Lise Defteri (2004) and made her film debut that year in Okul; she gained wide recognition for the title role in the fantasy series Selena (2006-2009) and was voted Most Beloved Turkish Actress at the Jetix Children's Awards. She went on to play Su in Küçük Sırlar and Didem in Romantik Komedi (2010) and its sequel (2013), continuing with Gönül İşleri, Analar ve Anneler, Yüz Yüze and the 2024 film Her Şeyin Başı Merkür. On 14 May 2016 she married actor and presenter Kenan İmirzalıoğlu; they have two daughters, Lalin (2020) and Leyla (2022).
