Şoray Uzun — Biography

Şoray Uzun (born 9 June 1967 in Razgrad, Bulgaria) moved with his family to Adana in 1974 after they settled there as immigrants; he completed primary and secondary school in Adana and finished high school at Bahçelievler Kocasinan Lisesi in Istanbul. A graduate of the Radio-TV Department at Marmara University's Faculty of Communication, he has built a career spanning more than three decades as a screenwriter, director, singer and actor.

Active in film and television since 1987, Uzun is best known for playing Ahmet in the long-running TRT 1 series Seksenler (2012-2022), having earlier played Kültigin in Kaygısızlar. In 2013 he hosted the TRT 1 quiz show Cevap Soruda, and he appeared in the music video for "Bekle Sevgilim Yaz Gelir" from Ersen ve Dadaşlar's 1988 album. He has said his stage name was inspired by the actress Türkan Şoray, of whom he was a fan.

Married to Elçin Uzun since 1998 and the father of three sons, Uzun currently writes a regular column for the newspaper Posta.
