A Man and a Woman: 20 Years Later

Movie · 1986 · 3 people

Claude Lelouch's 1986 French drama is a sequel to his celebrated 1966 romance A Man and a Woman, reuniting its lovers two decades after their original story. Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant return as Anne and Jean-Louis, whose lives cross again after the long years that have passed since their first meeting. Built around memories of the earlier film and the emotional weight of time gone by, the picture also features Évelyne Bouix and Jean-Claude Brialy among its ensemble. It was screened out of competition at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival. Lelouch later continued the story of both films with The Best Years of a Life (2019), again starring Trintignant and Aimée. Released in France as Un homme et une femme : Vingt ans déjà, the film runs about 112 minutes.
