George Ardisson once again plays Agent 3S3 in this 1966 sequel to Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell (1965), an Italian adventure and eurospy film that Sergio Sollima directed under the pseudonym Simon Sterling. Made in Italian and running 97 minutes, Agent 3S3: Massacre in the Sun (Italian: Agente 3S3, massacro al sole) is also known as Hunter from the Unknown, while its German title is Agent 3 S 3 pokert mit Moskau.

Co-produced with France and Spain, it was shot back to back with the first film, on location in Berlin and Ibiza. The screenplay is by Giovanni Simonelli and Jesús María Arozamena and the score by Piero Umiliani. The popular Italian singer Orietta Berti sings the film's English-language theme, "Trouble Galore". Besides Ardisson, the cast includes Michel Lemoine, Frank Wolff, Evi Marandi, Fernando Sancho, Eduardo Fajardo, Luz Márquez, John Karlsen, Sal Borgese, Nello Pazzafini and Claudio Ruffini.

It was released in France as Agent 3S3, massacre au soleil and in Spain as 3S3, agente especial and Agente 3S3 enviado especial. It opened in Italy in 1966 and in France in 1968.
