Man Called Invincible

Man Called Invincible (Italian: Lo chiamavano Tresette... giocava sempre col morto) is a 1973 Italian spaghetti western comedy directed by Giuliano Carnimeo, working under his regular pseudonym Anthony Ascott, from a screenplay by Tito Carpi. George Hilton stars as the roguish card player Tresette, with a supporting cast that includes Ida Galli, Nello Pazzafini and Sal Borgese. The film departs from the somber mood of many Italian westerns, treating genre conventions with broad humor. It opened in German-speaking cinemas on 27 July 1973 as Kennst Du das Land, wo blaue Bohnen blüh'n?, while English-language markets released it under such alternate titles as They Called Him the Player with the Dead, In the West There Was a Man Named Invincible and Tricky Dicky. A sequel followed, Di Tresette ce n'è uno, tutti gli altri son nessuno, whose title completes the playful wordplay started by the original.
