Blood for a Silver Dollar

Blood for a Silver Dollar (original title: Un dollaro bucato) is a 1965 Italian-French spaghetti Western directed by Giorgio Ferroni, featuring music by Gianni Ferrio. Regarded as Giuliano Gemma's first leading role in the genre, the story unfolds just after the end of the American Civil War. Gary O'Hara is a soldier returning home from a prisoner-of-war camp; because the barrel of his pistol was sawn off before his release, the gun can no longer fire accurately.

Once back in town, Gary agrees to kill Blacky, an outlaw said to be spreading chaos in the community—only to realize too late that his opponent is his own brother, something the men who hired him knew from the start. Both brothers are struck in the gunfight and, taken for dead, are thrown onto a passing wagon. Gary survives thanks to a silver dollar in his breast pocket that stops the bullet, and after recovering he sets out to avenge his brother. Ida Galli, Pierre Cressoy and Franco Fantasia round out the principal cast.
