Ida Galli — Biography

Born in 1939 in Sestola, in the Province of Modena, Ida Galli spent decades as one of Italian cinema's busy character actresses. She began appearing on screen around 1959 and continued working into the 1990s, becoming a familiar presence in Italian genre cinema, especially the spaghetti Western and giallo waves of the 1960s and 1970s. Rather than always using her own name, she was frequently credited under stage names such as Arianna, Arianna Heston, Evelyn Stewart, Isli Oberon and Priscila Steele. Her early credits include small parts in Fellini's La Dolce Vita and in Visconti's The Leopard, after which she took larger roles in numerous westerns and thrillers, among them Blood for a Silver Dollar, Adiós gringo, Django Shoots First, Il coltello di ghiaccio and The Psychic. Across several decades she appeared in dozens of Italian productions, with much of that body of work credited to her various pseudonyms rather than her birth name.
