The Psychic, originally titled Sette note in nero ("Seven notes in black"), is an Italian giallo directed by Lucio Fulci in 1977, a thriller that sits on the border of horror cinema. Released in English-language territories as The Psychic, it also circulated in the United States as Seven Notes in Black, Murder to the Tune of the Seven Black Notes and Death Tolls Seven Times. Running about 102 minutes, it reached Italian cinemas in August 1977 through the distributor Cineriz.

At its centre is Virginia, played by Jennifer O'Neill, who is shaken by a frightening vision of a body walled up in a dark room. When her husband is soon charged with a murder, she works with a researcher of paranormal phenomena to run her own investigation and clear him. As it emerges that the scene she saw may belong to the future rather than the past, Virginia moves closer to mortal danger. Alongside O'Neill the cast includes Gabriele Ferzetti, Marc Porel, Gianni Garko, Ida Galli, Jenny Tamburi and Luigi Diberti.

Fulci wrote the screenplay with Roberto Gianviti and Dardano Sacchetti. The film is loosely inspired by Vieri Razzini's novel Terapia mortale, published in 1972. In France it was released as L'Emmurée vivante and in Germany as Die sieben schwarzen Noten.
