Alpago, Alpaslan's Loyalist (Alpaslan'ın Fedaisi Alpago) (translated)

Alpago, Alpaslan's Loyalist is a 1967 black-and-white Turkish historical adventure film. Directed by Nejat Saydam from a screenplay by Sevda Sezer, it was produced by Murat Köseoğlu for Acar Film, with Melih Sertesen as cinematographer. Shot on 16 mm and running about 100 minutes, it was also released in Iranian cinemas under the title "The Brave of Samarkand."

Placing real historical figures within fictional events, the film centers on Alp Arslan, the Great Seljuk Sultan determined to end Byzantine rule in Anatolia. He is simultaneously troubled by Hasan Sabbah, who orders his assassin followers to attack the castle while Alpago is away; during the raid, Alpaslan's sister Ayşim Sultan is taken captive. The film stars Cüneyt Arkın, Zeynep Aksu, Reha Yurdakul and Turgut Özatay.
