Istırap

Istırap is a 1974 Turkish drama film directed by Nejat Saydam. The story follows Ali, who grows up under the cruelty of his stepfather Adnan, the man responsible for his father's death; forced to endure it because of his ailing mother, Ali is raised among horses in a stable instead of going to school. Wrongly accused of theft, he throws himself into a lake in despair and is found by Gül, a woman who works at an entertainment tent. Aytaç Arman (Ali) and Necla Nazır (Gül) share the leading roles. The film belongs to the Yeşilçam melodramas of suffering and sacrifice.
