Movie · 1985 · 8 people

Claude Miller directed the 1985 French comedy-drama An Impudent Girl, known in French as L'Effrontée. It is a coming-of-age story, and the screenplay is by Claude Miller, Luc Béraud and Bernard Stora. Films A2 and Téléma produced it; the film is in French and runs about 96 minutes. In Germany it is known as Das freche Mädchen and Das schreckliche Mädchen.

The lead is Charlotte Gainsbourg, then only 14 years old and the daughter of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg. She is joined by Bernadette Lafont, Jean-Claude Brialy, Raoul Billerey, Simon de La Brosse, Chantal Banlier, Jean-Philippe Écoffey and Julie Glenn. The film is a loose adaptation of Carson McCullers's The Member of the Wedding, whose French title is Frankie Addams.

The picture won the Louis Delluc Prize. At the Césars Gainsbourg took the prize for most promising actress and Bernadette Lafont the one for best supporting actress. It was also nominated for best film, best director, most promising actor, best original screenplay or adaptation, best costume design and best sound. Ricchi e Poveri's "Sarà perché ti amo" plays over the end credits, and an English version, "Rock It Rock It Tonight", was released, most likely as promotion.
