Lamiel
Lamiel is a 1967 French-Italian historical drama directed by Jean Aurel, loosely adapted from Stendhal's unfinished final novel. Set in the 19th century, this costume drama follows Lamiel (Anna Karina), a rebellious young orphan who climbs from poverty into high society. A doctor (Michel Bouquet) takes her under his wing and guides her ascent, living out his own desires through her experiences. Lamiel eventually marries a bankrupt count (Jean-Claude Brialy), but her life takes an unexpected turn when she falls for a thief who enters her bedroom one night. The supporting cast includes Bernadette Lafont, Pierre Clémenti and Robert Hossein. The film premiered in France in August 1967.
